How we started
The birth of the idea of JAVAA took place at the
funeral of popular comedic deejay “Scotty” when it
was pointed out that these sad occasions seemed to
be the only times that the pioneers of our music
meet.
A decision was taken, there and then, that this was
an undesirable situation, moreso, because this early
generation of Jamaica’s music faternity had enjoyed
wonderful fellowship and was something of a
“brotherhood”.
The idea was not allowed to die and within days, the
wheels for the establishment of the Association were
set in motion.
In an amazingly smooth flow of events, premises to
house our headquarters were identified, contact was
made with a wide cross-section of prospective
members, a Steering Committee was established and
JAVAA was born.
